Although most prevalent with our beloved cat gals, there’s no denying that quite a few Bugs Bunnies have been made into Bugs Honeys. So let’s dive into a whole bunch of anime that fit this mold, and let’s rank the best(and cutest) bunny girls that anime has to offer.
20. Chiester 410
Anime: Umineko no Naku Koro ni (Umineko When They Cry) If I had to choose a way to go, it would be by bunny assassin. Chiester 410 along with the other numerical Chiesters are very skilled fighters in the series, originally tasked with ending Christmas by killing Rudolf. Just kidding! It was just some sly bastard in a suit. When it comes to character, Chiester embodies the hakuna matata lifestyle. She just wants to lay back and enjoy herself, while also ridiculing everyone who actually takes life seriously.
19. Hikaru Usada
Anime: Di Gi Charat Two things: Firstly, how the hell does she keep her balance with ears that big? Like that must be a bother right? Secondly, there really seems to be a pattern with bunny girls and icons. Because as you can guess, Hikaru was also destined for the idol life. In a similar vein as our #3 pick later on this list, Hikaru also uses a tool to transform into her bunny state. It’s not a phone this time around, but dice. Lastly, she doesn’t really like her name and rather goes by “Rabi-en-Rose”, which through some linguistic magic equates to rabbit in life without worries. I guess her and Chiester really would get along.
18. Komugi Yoshida
Anime: Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R Sailor Moon transformations? Bland. Kill la Kill transformations? Not safe for work. Nurse witch transformations? Hippity hoppity my heart is Komugi’s property. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, in order to transform into her magic girl/nurse form, Komugi dawns some fluffy bunny ears, colorful socks, and lots of pink. She’s a middle school girl, a magic one at that, somewhat of a nurse, and to top it all off, she’s an idol. Great. She’s a klutz, beyond adorable, and always willing to help. If life ever gives you lemons she’ll give you bunny-aid.
17. Usa-Tan
Anime: Etotama To be frank, Etotama just has all of the cute girls. You get cat girls, monkey girls, cow girls, everything. But our bunny girl, Usa-Tan, is where it’s at. Firstly, she’s one of the more reasonable characters, being mature enough to point out the elephant in the room without overstepping her boundaries. Secondly, she’s not spoiled or conceited in the slightest. Despite her very successful business and wealth. She even works in the café with the other Zodiacs. Thirdly, oh boy is she rich. Now I’m not saying I’m a gold digger, but she definitely has some carrots on her.
16. Ingrid Sorveig Sorgrims
Anime: Astarotte no Omocha! Although with the nickname of an average bellybutton, Ini really gives the other girls running after Naoya a run for their money. Firstly, she’s seven years old and has bunny ears, making her as cute as a button. Secondly, she’s extremely intelligent, having the knowledge of her father passed down to her prior to his death. The girl is a sage at the age of seven. It took Jiraiya years to get that title (be it with a pervy prefix). She’s also a kuudere, maybe you could argue even a dandere, and lived the life of Rapunzel… what more could you ask for.
15. Mina Tsukuda
Anime: Getsumento Heiki Mina I never knew Lt. Judy Hopps got her own show. Good to know. And yes, this show is all about bunny police girls and their fight against aliens, who are really into sports for some reason. Of the many, and I mean many bunny girls in this show, Mina stands out as the most likable one. I mean, she is the protagonist after all. She also gets the best prompt ever, only being able to transform after eating a carrot, her least favorite food. So not only is she likable, cute, and a badass, but she also sends a good message of eating your vegetables no matter how nasty they may be. We have to do it in order to beat aliens guys.
14. Chuchu
Anime: Show By Rock!! Man, isekai has trickled down even to rhythm games, what a time to be alive. And in this isekai world we have Chuchu, the lead guitarist and singer of Plasmagica. I personally like Chuchu because she’s oddly realistic for a virtual rabbit girl. She has real ambition and is the main pushing force for the band. But beyond that, she still shows some actual human nature of wanting to pull a Zayn and flying solo to the very top. I do find it kind of odd though that she doesn’t believe in lucky charm, when she literally has “rabbit feet”.
13. Vert Far Breton
Anime: Dog Days Okay, everyone in this show is somewhat of an airhead. I mean the entire show makes war seem like a field trip, after all, but misses bunny girl Vert Far Brenton really takes the green cake. Speaking of which, if you google her you get some really nice desert recipes. So she makes my heart pump faster in and out of the show. Although she’s a master archer, mademoiselle Green seems to really be a safety hazard to anyone around her. And honestly man, same.
12. Charlotte E. Yeager
Anime: Strike Witches Take to the sky, country ride, the fastest witch alive, West Virginia, rabbit mama, take me home, country road… If at least one of you reading this article sang that in your head, I’ve succeeded. So Charlotte is a witch of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, and she’s without a doubt the fastest one out there. She also has a familiar of the white rabbit, meaning that she will occasionally whip out her bunny ears and fluffy tail proving that the tortoise will definitely not be the winner of this race.
11. Melona
Anime: Queen’s Blade I’m just going to say this, Queen’s Blade makes Kill la Kill seem like a PG13 Looney Toon, and Melona definitely does not help in disproving that statement. She’s a bunny/slime assassin with slime hands that double as her bra. Honestly need I say more. Oh yeah, she can also shape shift. So she’s like a Suu/Himiko Toga/Lola Bunny mashup. Now look me in my written eyes and tell me that doesn’t sound like pure waifey material. I thought so.
10. Nashetania Loei Piena Augustra
Anime: Rokka no Yuusha (Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers) This long-name princess is definitely a handful to deal with, but it’s definitely worth it. Being bestowed with both the powers of adorable bunny ears and CGI swords, she’s definitely a force to be reckoned with. I especially like the fact that she’s not really a one note character; her act changes depending on who she is with. And ever since her introduction she has been somewhat of a wild card. I can’t think of anyone else who throws magic swords at you as a way of flirting and fun, while also not being a tsundere of course.
9. Kurousagi
Anime: Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? You’ve seen Kaneki’s Marie Antoinette syndrome. Now prepare for “how can she rock both pink and blue hair so perfectly” syndrome. Kurosagi, although switching between the aforementioned pink and blue hairstyle when flustered, is called the black rabbit. And is the protagonist of the show. I find her to be quite silly because she’s easily flustered, quick to declare war, and can always be stopped by pulling on her ears. She’s a beautiful bunny girl too. I mean they even held an auction for her legs alone, who believes in the best in people, even when that is obviously not wise.
8. Yoshino
Anime: Date a Live Okay Yoshino might be a bit less bunny girl-ish than the rest on this list. But hear me out. She always carries her handy(pun intended) rabbit puppet with her, as without it she would bring back the Ice Age. And that’s no joke, I haven’t seen separation issues like this since Sora and Shiro. She also wears the most adorable outfit with giant floppy rabbit ears. And I mean just look at her, she’s adorable in every sense of the word. And her moe meter is through the roof.
7. Meroko Yui
Anime: Full Moon wo Sagashite All rise as we’re in the presence of the one and only bunny god of death, a Shinibunny if you will. Besides just desperately wanting to make that pun, I put Meroko on this list because she is a hoot and a half to watch. Admittedly, because her love life seems like such a soap opera, I can’t help but get my popcorn. But beyond just that, she’s also a very kind and mature manifestation of death, giving us plenty of lovable scenes as she flutters around Izumi and Takuto, and some sadness fuel for when a certain someone goes all Katy Perry hot and cold.
6. Reisen Udongein Inaba
Anime: Touhou Niji Sousaku Doujin Anime: Musou Kakyou Some cultures have the Easter Bunny. Others have legends of the Moon Bunny. Well the latter of the two has just arrived in the form of a cute girl. Also did I mention that this Lunar Rabbit basically has a Sharingan? You know before the cliff dive power scaling. She can control light and sound waves making you see and hear illusions. Her master is also called Kaguya. Are we sure she isn’t an Uchiha? Also, special shout out to Tewi Inaba, she’s just a treat.
5. Rito Tsukimi
Anime: Absolute Duo The writers really couldn’t decide whether they wanted to make Tsukimi a lovable, goofy/fuzzy character, or a masochistic badass. So they did both. And I’m not going to lie, I fell for her ruse initially. With her bunny ears, fluffy tail and bouncing against the wall energy, I could have sworn she would be the biggest sweetheart. But then she got serious and I had to question that statement a bit. Can we also just appreciate her “All Might” moment after defending the school and giving her students the thumbs up? Such an epic moment, and an epic character.
4. Tabane Shinonono
Anime: Infinite Stratos Tabane is just a ball full of energy. She seems to always be running around as happy as can be. Especially if Houki, Chifuyu or Ichika are present. She calls herself a genius, and honestly it’s hard to disagree with her. She just constantly seems to be living her best life. The fact that Houki, the tsundere queen, is her sister only adds to the comedic effect as Tobane just can’t seem to get enough of her sister’s impressive “plot”, while the aforementioned sister can’t help but bestow divine punishment on her. I don’t find her the most complex character. But she is definitely lovable and a positive presence in the show.
3. Alice Shiratori
Anime: Moetan If there’s one thing pop culture has taught me, it’s that taking off your glasses should completely change your appearance. And if there’s anything anime has taught me, it’s that flip phones are always magical. With all this knowledge we get Alice. At first glance she seems like your typical girl. But once she whips out that flip phone she turns into a bunny-eared, bushy tail magical girl. Her hair also changes color, but let’s not focus on that part.
2. Haru
Anime: Beastars Maybe not what one would expect from a bunny girl. But like, she is literally a rabbit with human emotions. Honestly, too realistic human emotions. Besides turning a portion of the audience into furries with that one scene, Haru also does wonders for the plot. She has a lot of issues but hops tall and does her best to live her life. She carries a great message in that way, being born “weak” but still fighting back and holding her ground. Her and Legoshi’s relationship is one of the more complex and intriguing ones to be found in anime, and I honestly applaud the writers of this show for their effort.
1. Mai Sakurajima
Anime: Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai Mai is just a girl who occasionally wears a bunny costume. But the words “bunny girl” are in the title, so it counts. I also wanted to put her on this list because holy mother of character writing. I honestly don’t want to go into the character of Mai, or why she dawns her rabbit wardrobe, as I think you should go into the show blind if you’ve never seen it before. Is it an ecchi rom-com? Yes. Is it brilliant? Definitely. So go and see for yourself why she is Mai best bunny girl.
